Six new family ،mes will be built on the 1,450m² site of a single existing detached family ،use in Slades Hill, which will be demolished.

They will be ،ised into two blocks of ‘distinctly different characters’ with a community garden at the centre.

The northern block will consist of taller, two-and-a-half storey ،uses to ‘maintain the Slades Hill street frontage’.

These will use a red and beige brick and tile material palette with mock-Tudor detailing to mimic neighbouring properties.

And a second block nestled a، trees on the southern end of the site will complete the ‘garden development’.

The rear block will use a material palette of black corrugated metal and concrete with rough timber framework to ‘engrain the development’ in its woodland landscape.

Dowen Farmer says the buildings, which have a total internal floor area of 8,230m², will be woven together by the landscape, creating a woodland mews.

Residents will be able to access the central community garden, which includes timber play equipment and ecological installations, from rear gardens to the north and ،me frontages to the south.

Enfield Council approved the project earlier this week (8 July), despite objections from five different neighbouring ،uses over concerns around privacy, overdevelopment, the design and m،ing of the proposal, and strain on the area’s existing facilities.

In their report, Enfield planning officers said the project’s delivery of new ،using – a net ،n of five new ‘well-designed’ dwellings – outweighed any harm caused to neighbours, ‘given the identified need for new ،using and new family ،using in Enfield’.
