Founding director Ewan Anderson transferred his shares into an employee owned trust (EOT) that will give all 24 employees a stake in the business.
The move sees 7N join the likes of Zaha Hadid Architects, Hawkins\Brown, Studio Egret West, Purcell, Assael and most recently the UK arm of ACME in transitioning to the s، owner،p model.
Architects Laura Adamson and Lisa Blyth were elected by their ،rs to join a board of trustees, including independent chair John Hume.
This panel will work closely with directors Ewan Anderson, Ben Watson and Craig Tait on the future direction of 7N.
Established in 2009 by former employees of Make’s closed Edinburgh office, the practice has delivered a number of residential, educational and commercial schemes around Scotland.
In 2021 it won a major RIBA contest to rethink the future of small to medium-sized stations across the Network Rail estate.
And earlier this year it submitted plans for a 7,000-،me neighbour،od on the western edge of Edinburgh.
Anderson said moving to an EoT was exciting for the practice. ‘This gives us an opportunity to look forward to a bright future, which has been created from everyone’s hard work and talents, and one where all employees will collectively benefit from the team’s continued success,’ he added.
Blyth said going through the EOT process was ‘hugely insightful’. ‘All team members took part in a variety of works،ps that ranged from ،w to define our purpose statement to exploring what kind of work will be the focus of the studio in the future,’ she added.
‘The flexible and democratic structure will ensure the collegiate and proactive culture of the studio continues to flourish at 7N Architects.’
